System Administrator

The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security of the company intranets and computer systems. Duties include assigning and maintaining user access, installing and maintaining software, responding to employee concerns relating to IT, troubleshooting IT issues, and writing policy documents and training materials for employees. Manages servers, network equipment, and other related IT infrastructure. Coordinates with company leadership to determine new technologies and enhancements for company's systems.

Key Responsibilities:

System Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications.

Network Management:

  • Document and keep organized all of the internal resources and network topology - virtual machines, test devices, test servers, etc.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Configure and maintain network services such as internal DNS, DHCP.
  • Monitor network traffic, analyze patterns, and implement necessary adjustments to optimize performance and security.

Security Administration/Hardware/Devices:

  • Work with HR to support proper onboarding/offboarding of staff: add/remove people into LDAP/AD/git/wiki, review/maintain minimal needed access, provide and keep track of needed devices (inventory).
  • Keep track of all licensed software, issued licenses and open seats.
  • Management of remote devices.
  • Management, enforcement and periodical review of 2FA / MFA solutions for internal systems.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's systems and internal data from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats.
  • Manage physical access control systems.
  • Procure needed hardware/devices in time to keep stock levels up and ready for new hires.

Offload non-production maintenance tasks from devops people:

  • Work with devops people to keep company website up and running, monitor that.
  • Work with devops people to keep track of infrastructure calendars (SW updates (both internal and 3rd party and dependabot-type of auto updates), subscriptions renewal, infrastructure cost optimization).
  • Work with devops people to maintain uptime bots and high level company infrastructure health status page.

User Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving technical problems, and answering technical inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver user training programs to educate employees on IT best practices, security protocols, and new technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience working as a System Administrator for 3+ years.
  • Proficiency in operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and MacOS.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, PROXMOX.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and strong sense of responsibility.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience configuring and managing Apple Business Manager
